I'm still wondering why Northern Nigeria Governors and statesmen are demanding for upward review in revenue sharing formular in their favour. This revenue they talk about is coming from only one source: oil. Every state in Nigeria, including the Federal Government depend on what comes from oil, whereas there is no state in Nigeria lacking in revenue generating resources. There are farms in the north big enough to feed all of West Africa, if not the entire continent. The North is richer in mineral resources in commercial quantity. Lokoja, Agbaja, Ajaokuta, Ashaka, Bauchi, Sokoto, Okene, Plateau, Katsina, Niger etc are all rich in Uranium, Limestones, etc. These are in high demand in international markets. Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Borno, Adamawa, Kaduna, Niger, Kwara, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe etc have farms that can, if fully utilized, export food and earn enough to give the large number of northern kids free education from kindergarten to the university. There are places dotting all the states attractive to tourists, local and foreign. Many countries that are serious earn big from tourism.

I think its a mark of laziness for any adult to keep depending on others to feed even when he's been naturally blessed enough to be independent. And to cap it up, its more insulting when you hear or read about how much money these northern governors steal from the "little" they get from the federal allocation.

And now, perhaps we are yet to know, the entire north has practically been severed from the rest of Nigeria. Like Olisa Agbakoba said, as it is today, no right thinking Igboman want to stay and do business anywhere near Borno, Plateau, Bauchi, Kano, etc. Same with the northerner who feel unsafe anywhere outside the north.

We must look at the violent activities of groups like Boko Haram and the growing number of street kids who lack education and parentage. The northern governors should sit down and chart an economic agenda that will re-industrialize the north and give jobs to the unemployed in the region. The north used to be good home to several textile companies. In those days, when workers close from work in Sherada or Bompai industrial area of Kano, you will think they were returning from a big international football match or probably it was a sallah day. Now, all those companies in Kano, Zaria, Kaduna have all closed shop throwing more than 30,000 people out of jobs. Some of these people now depend on hailing politicians to get a meal. Some have taken to thuggery. Some have been driven to religious extremism.
The north should face the truth. Our people in position of authority are criminals in every ramification. When they use the poor northerners to amass wealth, build personal residences with bedrooms numbering 50, ride in the most expensive cars in the world, doing nothing but possessing everything, how do anyone want the north to be taken serious?
The north is one part of the country dominated by very rich people without any visible means of income.

I think people should stop playing politics with our lives and future.
However, the problem is not just about the north but a clear collapse of the economic contraptions imperialism has entrapped Nigeria in. It’s a systemic failure.
These are my personal opinions.
